The 70-218 exam is a core credit for the MCSA on Microsoft Win2K and elective credit for the MCSE on Win2K. It measures skills for administering, supporting, and troubleshooting Win2K networks. Microsoft recommends that candidates have proficiency with troubleshooting file, print and Web resources and clients and servers, auditing and managing security, 2000, and configuring and troubleshooting Active Directory and remote access. The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential proves that you have the skills to successfully implement, manage, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows 2000-based operating environments, including Windows .NET Server. An MCSA candidate should have six to 12 months of experience working with a desktop operating system, a network operating system, and an existing network infrastructure. MCSA candidates are required to pass three core exams and one elective exam.

Exam 70-215—Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Win2K Server

Exam 70-275—Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows .NET Server (Available 2002)

Exam 70-218—Managing a Microsoft Win2K Network Environment (Available January 2002)
   Or

Candidates must choose one exam from each pair of alternatives shown below.
For example, a candidate must pass either exam 70-215 or exam 70-275, but will not receive
credit for both if each is passed.

Exam 70-224—Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

Exam 70-227—Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000, Enterprise Edition

Exam 70-228—Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition

Exam 70-244—Supporting and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Network
